synopsis
After a long trip, Ines, Jorge and Fabricio arrive home and discover that they have no electricity. Now, instead of resting, they will have to face a fridge full of rotten food. Suspicions and old quarrels resurface amid the dirty pots and the noise of flies that surrounds them. As they clean up, the worst in each of them reveals itself.
Director Statement:
"Dead Flies" is a very intimate film for me and today I can understand it as a project about my almost claustrophobic personal experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the script was built. The actors gave flesh to the characters and filled them with contradictions: I think there is a reflection on the complexity of love/family relationships, but also on the emotional work of women and how much we give up our individualities in the name of the other. I'm very proud of the team and how the elements of the film dialogue with each other: art, photography and sound create the atmosphere necessary for narrative.
